The Works of Charles Dickens
Chapman & Hall, 1874.
The Library edition. 8vo. Thirty volumes, all finely bound in contemporary half burgundy morocco over marbled boards. Spines with raised bands, red leather title labels, gilt lettering and gilt embellishments in the sections. All edges marbled. Marbled endpapers. Full page steel engraved plates throughout by the various original illustrators including H. K. Browne, George Cruikshank and John Leech. A very good set showing a little edge wear and spines faded to brown, but overall a very handsome set of what Dickens called his 'Best Edition'.
