First edition. Three volumes bound in two. Finely bound by Bayntun in recent full red morocco, with raised bands, gilt borders to covers and titles to spine. Gilt cartouche depicting Dickens in an oval frame to the upper cover and his signature embossed in gilt to the lower cover of each volume. All edges gilt. Illustrated throughout by George Cattermole and Halbot Browne. A fine, clean set, handsomely bound.
Made up of the two novels, The Old Curiosity Shop and Barnaby Rudge, the individual volumes of which were made up of the unsold sheets from this book.
