First edition. Original yellow paper covered boards in printed dustwrapper. Author's presentation copy, inscribed on the front end paper, "Sibyl Colefax. to be saved from Desmond McCarthy". A fine copy in a near fine (price clipped) dustwrapper, with just a hint of browning to the spine.
Sibyl, Lady Colefax, notable interior decorator and socialite and founder of Colefax & Fowler, Laurie Lee and Desmond McCarthy, were all acquaintances by dint of their connection to the Bloomsbury Group.
