New edition. 129.5cm x 26.5cm. Original chromolithograph map backed on linen as issued and folded into green original cloth folder, lettered in gilt. A very good copy with a couple of pinholes to the margin and a couple of light marks to the edges.
This map was originally issued in black and white as an accompaniment to the first edition of 'Tombleson's Thames' in 1834. Its popularity saw it reproduced throughout the nineteenth century and it remains the most iconic map of the Thames.
The map follows the Thames from Cirencester to Southend, taking in Lechlade, Oxford, Henley, Marlow and Windsor en route to London.
