First edition. 8vo. Original buff paper covered boards with large pictorial onlay. Pictorial end papers, twenty black and white illustrations and ten colour illustrations by the author. A very good copy, a little dusty. Some light marks to the endpapers and a previous owner's neat inscription on the verso of the free front end paper.
One of three large format books issued by Potter. Inspired by potter's local Village shop in Sawrey, Margaret Lane tells how this book "celebrates the actual little village shop, and with such appreciative feelings that its pages almost smell of candles and tea."
