The Tale of Benjamin Bunny
F. Warne & Co., 1910.
Early edition. 12mo. Grey paper covered boards and spine lettered in green, with pictorial onlay to upper cover. Pictorial endpapers and colour plates by the author. A very good copy.
The character of Benjamin Bunny was named after Beatrix Potter's pet rabbit. Growing up, Beatrix Potter had lizards, mice, rabbits, a tortoise and dogs as pets that she would sketch and study which clearly influenced her later books.
Leslie Linder notes, "The dedication page of The Tale of Benjamin Bunny, which reads, 'For the Children of Sawrey from Old Mr. Bunny', is of particular significance as it shows Beatrix Potter's growing affection for the village of Sawrey."
