America

KAFKA, Franz

KAFKA, Franz America

Routledge, 1938.

First English language edition. Original red cloth with black titles on the spine, in red and pink dustwrapper printed in blue. A fine copy in a very good dustwrapper indeed, which just has some foxing to the spine and minor rubbing to the corners. An uncommonly attractive copy.

First published in German in 1927 and translated into English by Willa and Edwin Muir. The story of Karl Rossman, a German boy of 16, who is sent off to America by his parents for a "forgivable offence". The book's blurb describes the story as " a drama of innocence".
