First edition, first state of the text with page 213 mis-paginated. Contemporary half brown calf over brown cloth with raised bands and black title label to the spine, lettered and decorated in gilt. Marbled edges. Fifteen full page steel engravings and vignette title page by H.K. Browne ("Phiz"). A very good copy, a touch of wear to the head of the spine, but internally clean with only light browning to the plates. Small closed tear to plate facing p150, not affecting the image.
