First edition. 8vo. Black cloth with flying car vignette on the upper cover in gilt and red. Lettering in gilt on the spine and upper cover. Top edge gilt. Publisher's blind stamp, "presentation copy" on the title page. Twenty four full page colour illustrations by a variety of artists, forty two sketch maps and plans and fold out map in colour at the rear. A very good copy indeed, minimal rubbing to spine ends and corners. A contemporary review of the book, by way of a newspaper cutting from the Echo, dated December 1909, is pasted to the front free endpaper.
The publisher's advertising blurb states, "This book has been produced to meet the needs so often felt by motorists of a book which shall describe a carefully thought out route through the southern portion of England." It includes notes for drivers, distances and interesting objects along the way.
The routes take the motorist on a voyage from London via Reigate to Canterbury, along the South Coast from Dover to Fowey and Taunton, and then back through Padstow, Wells, Marlborough and Reading.
