Photographic frontis portrait of the author; pictorial title page with drawings of Chateau Lafitte [sic.] and Chateau Margaux; nineteen black and white plates, including maps. A folding facsimile contract between Lord Nelson and Woodhouse & Co. placing an order for "five hundred pipes of the best Marsala Wine to be delivered...without loss of time." A bright, attractive copy. Front hinge tender, but holding, with an 80mm split. Small paper repair to corner of the frontis mount (image not affected) and there are occasional brown spots to the extremities. A handsome copy of this interesting work.
Includes chapters on Port, Sherry, Madeira and Champagne, as well as the wines of France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Greece and Australia.
