A SIGNED LETTER BY BEATRIX POTTER
Autograph Letter Signed
1941.
A two page letter, written on both sides of single sheet of letter paper, signed H.B. Heelis, written to Charles Forrester, a Carlisle cattle farmer. With original envelope. A charming letter in very good condition indeed. Paper unevenly torn from a notebook by Potter. Occasional patches of fading to the ink and some light spotting to the envelope.
Mrs Heelis comments on the bull she has just bought from Mr Forrester, "He is a beauty - so compact which is what is required here", and her plans, "I would be inclined to put the heifers to the bull younger...". She talks about the weather and the impact on her livestock, "I lost far more sheep with drought than in the snow itself."
