Spark's tenth novel, The Driver's Seat was one of the six novels nominated in 2010 for the Lost Man Booker Prize for 1970. According to Martin Stannard's biography "Muriel considered The Driver's Seat to be her best-written and best-constructed novel, and with good reason for she was at the very height of her powers with this study of alienation."
