Richthofen the Red Baron
Hamish Hamilton, 1968.
First edition. Square 8vo. Pictorial paper covered boards in the pictorial dustwrapper. Illustrated throughout in colour and black and white by Briggs. A fine copy, in a very good dustwrapper indeed, which is price-clipped, with some wear to the extremities and a repaired, short closed-tear to the base of the spine.
Manfred von Richthofen known in Germany as der rote Kampfflieger (The Red Battle-Flyer), in France as le petit rouge, and in the English speaking world as the Red Baron. In a time of wooden and fabric aircraft Richthofen had eighty victories and is regarded to this day as the ace of aces. Scarce early example of Briggs' work.
