First edition. Publishers red cloth, titled in black, in pictorial dustwrapper. Six full page illustrations in line by Elizabeth Alldridge. A near fine copy with a contemporary gift inscription to front free endpaper in a near very good dustwrapper with chips to the spine ends and some internally mended closed tears.
The first appearance of Worzel Gummidge, the talking scarecrow, made popular by the ITV series in the late 1970 starring Jon Pertwee.
The first edition is rare in a dustwrapper.
