A collection of essays concerning "literary, artistic, and political history, of critical disquisition and biographic anecdote." Amongst a wide range of subjects, Disraeli, a noted bibliophile himself, wrote an insightful essay on the exigencies of book collecting. Enormously popular from its first publication 1791 until well into the 20th century, Curiosities went through a number of editions before his son, Benjamin Disraeli [later British Prime Minister], edited it and added short biography of his father. This set belonged to Sir Edward Watkin, British MP and one of the great Victorian railway entrepreneurs.
