The rare Edition de Luxe, number 25 of 50 copies, numbered and signed by the author. Large 4to. Bound in publisher's brown pigskin, with gilt lettering and decoration. Top edge gilt and others untrimmed. Housed in the original card slipcase. This copy inscribed by the author on the title page, "Abe Bailey from his friend Rudyard Kipling" with a four line manuscript excerpt of verse from the poem on Cape Town. Thirty mounted colour plates under captioned tissue guards, all from wonderfully evocative watercolours, and fifty black and white drawings to accompany the poetry. A near fine copy.
Poems include: A Song of the English; The Coastwise Lights; The Song of the Dead, The Deep-Sea Cables; The Song of the Sons; The Song of the Cities and England's Answer. Beautiful illustrations include views of cities from the then British Empire, such as, Bombay, Hong-Kong, Calcutta and Sydney.
