Inscribed by Arthur Rackham with an original drawing of South-West Wind, Esquire, one of the principal characters in the story, "To Robert Hardy / from Edyth + Arthur Rackham / Xmas 1932." Pictorial endpapers. Colour frontispiece with three further colour plates, in addition to numerous line drawings throughout the text. A near fine copy in a very good dustwrapper.
South-West Wind, Esquire is a mischievous, magical character who visits the Black Brothers at the onset of the story, and marks the beginning of their misfortune.
