First edition thus, the new format of Peter Pan with Rackham's illustrations interspersed with the text. First issue with pictorial endpapers and top edge gilt. 4to. Green cloth with gilt embossed decoration by Rackham. This copy housed in the very rare original box, with a colour plate mounted onto the upper cover and a printed label on the edge of the box. Pictorial endpapers, fifty colour plates mounted onto card and protected by captioned tissue guard, 22 black and white drawings, including some full page illustrations and a map of Kensington Gardens. A near fine copy, in a worn, but still attractive, box with some repairs to the joints.
After the initial success of this story Hodder & Stoughton decided to produce the book in an even more appealing format. With newly designed covers, illustrations interspersed with the text and seven new black and white illustrations.
