Pictorial endpapers with design in red and forty mounted colour plates under captioned tissue guards. In addition to the colour plates there are many black and white drawings both full page and in the text. A near fine copy with slight waviness to the spine, but very little fading. Relevant newspaper clippings neatly attached to the rear endpapers. Internally crisp and bright.
Includes classic fairy tales such as Hansel and Grethel, Red Riding Hood and Rapunzel. "What a book for any child, big or small, to find on Christmas morning as its new property left by Santa Claus!...a picture wherever a picture can be put...a possession which will win him the envy not only of his brothers and sisters, but of all the grown-ups too." Contemporary review, The Bookman, 1909.
