Windsor Castle and the Water-Way Thither
Marcus Ward & Co., 1880.
First edition. 4to. Pictorial red cloth, with bevelled edges, lettered and decorated in black and gilt. All edge gilt. Twelve tipped in chromolithographs after watercolours by F. Jones, plus seventy four engraved illustrations in the text by R.T. Pritchett. A near fine copy with some dulling to the gilt on the spine, but otherwise a bright, crisp copy.
The writer starts on his imaginary voyage from Battersea, and, as he conducts us up the river, gossips pleasantly and not uninstructively about the villages and towns which we pass on either side of the river [Review, Spectator 21 Feb. 1880]
