The Lock to Lock Times The Journal of The Thames. Volume V (issues 137-189)
1891.
Two volumes, bound in blue cloth with gilt titles containing the 52 weekly issues for 1891. Illustrated thoughout. Front board of the first volume crease, a very good set.
The Lock to Lock Times was founded in 1888 with the object of supplying the long-felt want of an organ of news concerning the doings of Boating-men, Artists, Anglers, and that large class of persons who frequent the River Thames. The venture was from the first a conspicuous success. During the first twelve months of its existence, the proprietors found it necessary to twice increase the size of the paper, while the number of illustrations was at the same time considerably added to - Advert in Krausse's Pictorial History of the Thames.
The journal, founded to capitalise on the late Victorian popularity of boating was published weekly until 1915. All volumes are now rare.
