First edition. 8vo. Maroon cloth embossed with gilt lettering and decoration. Top edge gilt. This copy in the rare, original pictorial dustwrapper. Pictorial title page and twenty black and white plates by C.E. Brock. A near fine copy of the book, just a small mark on the front free endpaper and a short ink line to margin of page 120. The dustwrapper is in very good condition, some short closed tears to the top of the spine joints, small corner chips and a little associated creasing. An attractive example of this very rare dustwrapper.
This enchanting story has been adapted for stage and screen on numerous occasions with Jenny Agutter playing Bobbie in the 1970 film.
