Full white vellum with elaborate gilt decoration to the upper cover, depicting a very regal looking peacock. Gilt embellishments to the spine and an olive green spine label lettered in gilt. Top edge gilt and others untrimmed. In original publisher's card slipcase. Frontispiece and title page illuminated in full colour. Ten other colour illuminations. The text is beautifully printed in red and black. Decorative initials are in red and gold. A fine copy. Vellum bright and text beautiful, The lavish decoration and sumptuous embellishments give this the feel of a medieval manuscript. A fabulous production of this most famous of philosophical love poems. The slipcase is complete but with repairs to the joints and worn along the edges.
