Second impression, published one month after the first edition. Black cloth with a red title label on the spine, in the original printed dustwrapper. Inscribed by du Maurier on the front free endpaper "To Foy / with love / from / Daphne / September 18. 1949" A near fine copy in a very good dustwrapper indeed, which is a little worn to the top edge and spine slightly tanned.
PROVENANCE: From the library of Foy Quiller-Couch, daughter of Sir Arthur Quiller-Couch and close friend of Du Maurier.
