First edition. Orange cloth in original dustwrapper. Inscribed by du Maurier on the front free endpaper "To Foy Quiller-Couch / from / Daphne / Easter 1943" A good copy, boards worn, in a near very good dustwrapper, which has shallow chipping to the top of the spine.

Foy Quiller-Couch and Du Maurier were great friends and enjoyed riding together through the Cornish countryside and discussing Daphne's ideas for story lines and plots.

PROVENANCE: From the library of Foy Quiller-Couch, daughter of Sir Arthur Quiller-Couch and close friend of Du Maurier.
