Second edition. Half bound in dark turquoise leather with marbled boards and endpapers. Raised bands with gilt decoration and lettering on the spine. Top edge gilt. A very good copy indeed with remarkably little wear. Some inevitable fading to the spine and page edges a little dusty. A very handsome set.
Charles Cavendish Fulke Greville (1794-1865)was one of the finest political diarists of his time, who was closely involved with such political luminaries as the Duke of Wellington and Lord Palmerston. The brilliant portraits he drew of his contemporaries make his diaries the most important work of their kind of his generation.
