First edition. Finely bound in full crimson calf with raised bands to spine and morocco title labels. Inlaid morocco JTS monogram of John Tricks Spalding to upper cover. Top edge gilt. Three aquatint plates and three fold-out family trees, as well as numerous engravings and tables in the text. A very good copy with minor wear to the spine ends and corners and the head of the front joint fragile. Internally very fresh.
Very rare. The original and most comprehensive history of Henley on Thames.

PROVENANCE: John Tricks Spalding (1844-1924); former Mayor of Nottingham, noted collector British Topography and author of "A Bibliographical Account of the Works relating to English Topography in the Library of John Tricks Spalding". His large collection was dispersed by Sotheby's in 1925.
