Illustrations throughout, mainly in black and white, with some colour illustration, including to 'The Pearl of Love' by H.G. Wells which has drawings by Charles Robinson. A good set, new endpapers to volume 70 and vol. 71 faded. Previous ownership inscription to vol. 71.
Influenced by Conan Doyle's growing beliefs in spiritualism, this Professor Challenger novel sees him reluctantly investigate the existence of psychic phenomena.
