Vol I number 69 of 600 copies, Vol II number 524 of 700 copies, Vol III number 69 of 855 copies. Profusely illustrated with 229 plates reproduced from paintings. The frontispiece of Vol. I an original signed etching by Alick P.F. Ritchie A very good set indeed. All volumes slightly faded to spine, vol II has some fading to the upper board, rubbing to the joints, a bookplate to the front pastedown and a contemporary ownership inscription in the subscriber's field, ribbon markers present in all three volumes. Internally bright and clean.
Richardson competed in upwards of forty grand nationals and this set represents a comprehensive illustrated study on breeding, training, steeple chasing, stable management, flat racing, and the history of the sport across Britain, America and Ireland.
