First edition. 8vo. Black cloth with white lettering, in the original printed dustwrapper, which has a black background decorated with white heraldic designs. Line drawings in the text by the author. A fine copy with some foxing to the page edges and an ownership name to the front pastedown in a near fine dustwrapper with just minor wear to the head of the spine and corners. A bright, crisp copy.
The Sword in the Stone, a recasting of a Mallorean Arthurian legend and the first part of White's Once and Future King series, is the author's most famous work. The basis for the 1962 Walt Disney film of the same name.
