A finely bound copy of this classic tale. 8vo. Full green morocco by Bayntun, gilt vignettes on the upper cover and gilt lettering to the spine. Elaborately finished with gilt borders, dentelles and raised bands. All page edges gilt. Pictorial endpapers. Illustrations throughout in black and white by E.H. Shepard. A handsome copy.
On its publication in 1926 Winnie the Pooh met with enthusiastic reviews. The Herald Tribune wrote, "There are not so many books that, sitting reading them alone, you find yourself laughing aloud over. This is one of them." Other rave reviews described the book as, "the perfect book for children" and "a children's book of the season that seems certain to stay."
