Seventy two tipped in colour illustrations under captioned tissue guards, plus 19 small line drawings in the text. A near fine copy, with just a little foxing to the endpapers.

A short history of the Indian Army during the British Empire - from the army of the East India Company, through the great Mahratta wars, the mutiny and the state of the army in 1911. Includes information on uniforms, customs and traditions.
