History of the Present Deanery of Bicester, Oxon. Bound With: The History Of Bicester, Its Town And Priory, Compiled By J. C. Blomfield. Bicester, Printed by Smith And Pankhurst, 1884.
Parker and Co., 1882.
Two works. Both first editions. Bound in later half morocco over cloth covered boards. The first work is illustrated with two folding maps and one folding table reproducing information from the Domesday Book. The second work is illustrated with two engraved plates and a foldout genealogical table of the Cokers. A very good copy, quite worn at the head of the spine. Discreet ownership stamp to first blank.
This volume includes the first and second parts of Blomfield's history of Bicester. The first part covers the town's Early History from Roman to Norman times, and the second part covers the history of the Town and Priory. The other parts, published later and more commonly encountered, deal with individual parishes under the Deanery of Bicester.
These first two parts are uncommon.
