The Folk of the Faraway Tree
Newnes, 1946.
First edition. 8vo. Publisher's red cloth with gilt titles in the rare original pictorial dustwrapper. The dustwrapper has a wraparound scene in full colour by Dorothy Wheeler and the text is illustrated with Wheeler's line drawings. A very good copy with a faded spine in a very good dustwrapper indeed which is exceptionally bright and crisp just showing a little wear to the head of the spine and upper corners, internally reinforced with tape.
The final book in Blyton's original Magic Faraway Tree trilogy, which remains one of the most popular collection of children's books of the twentieth century and is many young readers' first introduction to fantasy writing. The book was published to war-time paper standards and consequently few first editions survive. This book in particular is exceptionally scarce and seldom seen in such nice condition.
