First edition. Publisher's blue cloth lettered gilt, in the original dustwrapper. A very good copy with foxing to the page edges in a very good dustwrapper with a little wear to the head of the spine and some foxing to the rear panel.
This novel centres around Julia Lambert, a successful actress, who is married to a theatre manager. Bored of her husband Julia begins a tumultuous affair with a persistent fan, who is not so shy and retiring as he portrays. The book is a wonderful insight into theatrical life, both on and off stage and a world that can be ruthless and complex.
