Issue 3, July 1936
The Farleigh Press, 1936.
Original paper wrappers, printed in blue. A very good copy of an ephemeral item. Some browning to the edges.
Inspired by the 1936 Surrealist Exhibition in London, Contemporary Poetry and Prose was an avant-garde magazine edited by Roger Roughton that ran for ten issues between the spring of 1936 and the autumn of 1937. Includes the first UK appearance of Wallace Stevens's "Farewell to Florida" and "Two Poems Towards a Poem" by Dylan Thomas, which was later published in Twenty-Five Poems, as poems IX and X, concluding his sonnet sequence "Altarwise by owl-light".
