The second volume has some discolouration to the upper board, but the set is otherwise attractive. Contemporary presentation inscription to first blank.

A contemporary history of Victorian Britain spanning from the death of William IV in 1837 to the general election of 1880, written by Justin McCarthy, a prominent author, historian, and member of the Irish parliament. The first edition was published from 1879-80, sold very well and was reprinted numerous times.
