A & C Black, 1916.
First edition of this text. 8vo. Blue cloth with decorative design printed in white and gilt titles to the spine. Seventy five colour illustrations painted by Mortimer Menpes. A very good copy indeed, mainly very clean with a few pages affected by foxing.
These illustrations were originally drawn for a 1904 book with text by the artist's daughter. Dorothy Menpes's writing was deemed too poor and thus Ragg was asked to provide an alternative version.
