Written and Painted by Walter Tyndale
An Artist in the Riviera Written and Painted by Walter Tyndale
Hutchinson, 1916.
First edition. 4to. Blue cloth with gilt lettering and decoration to covers and top edge gilt. Pictorial endpapers and thirty colour plates of watercolour scenes under captioned tissue guards. A very good copy, bright and attractive, previous ownership inscription, rear hinge tender and some foxing.
The author explains that the principle focus of his book is in on the Italian side of the "Riviera" rather than the more famous sites of the Cote D'Azur. It describes the bay of Monte Carlo and the town of Nice, but brings to life the towns along the Italian coastline, including Portofino, Le Cinque Terre, San Remo and Ventimiglia.
