Macmillan, 1971.
Uncorrected proof copy. Publisher's orange paper wrappers. Ownership inscription of Julian Mitchell to front free endpaper. Written on the cover is "PROOF, please return to 8054 B.H.". A very good copy.
The novelist and playwright Julian Mitchell at this time presented the Arts Commentary programme on Wednesday evenings on BBC Radio 3. He and Frank Kermode reviewed 'Not To Disturb' at 7.30pm on 15th December 1971 on the station alongside William Golding's 'The Scorpion God' and Iris Murdoch's 'An Accidental Man'. The instruction to return the book to "8054 B.H." likely, therefore, refers to a room in Broadcasting House.
