First edition. Number 132 of 1150 copies of the Edition de Luxe, printed on large paper and signed by Rackham. Large 4to. Full white vellum with gilt decoration and lettering. Top edge gilt. Front silk tie present. Thirty four colour plates mounted onto brown art paper and protected by tissue guards with printed captions. In addition to the colour plates are numerous line drawings in the text. A good copy, some soiling to rear board and front hinge a little tender, minor dampstaining to a couple of pages, but all plates perfect.
Wagner's epic tale of dwarves, Gods and heroes allowed Rackham the chance to draw on the German art which inspired him so greatly.
