First edition. Elephant folio. Half black morocco over marbled boards, leather title label lettered in gilt to the upper cover. Twenty two plates, including plans, diagrams and two vignettes. A good copy, small loss to the title label, corners rubbed and plates with some damp stains. An uncommon survival.
The plates which illustrate its descriptions are good specimens of engraving, as well as valuable for the information they afford. A book of "unquestionable excellence." [Mechanics' Magazine, Vol. 29, 1838]
