First edition. 8vo. Green cloth decorated and lettered in gilt. All edges gilt. Illustrated with twelve line drawings "fairy-fancies" by E. Gertrude Thomson. A very good copy, habitual fading to the spine. Contemporary ownership signature on the front pastedown.
Gertrude Thomson was a friend of Carroll, she had already illustrated his Nursery Alice in 1889, and he particularly liked her depiction of fairies so asked her to supply a number of engravings for this publication.
Many of these poems first appeared in Phantasmagoria in 1869.
