Christmas Card for 1987 with PRINTED CARD BEARING THE HAW-LANTERN EPIGRAPH

Two items. The first single sheet printed as Heaney's 1987 Christmas card, with printed verse, "Dangerous pavements. But I face the ice this year With my father's stick." This card inscribed by Heaney to Roy Davids, "I have decided that a haiku is a milk-yielding quadruped on the summit of Ben Lomond." The second a folded card with the two-line dedicatory verse from Haw Lantern, which was published in 1987, 'The riverbed, dried-up, half-full of leaves. / Us, listening to a river in the trees.' The Haw Lantern card has an abstract design by Henry Pearson printed in brown, signed by the artist in pencil and dated 1993. Both in excellent condition.
