First edition, deluxe binding. 4to. White cloth with gilt decoration and lettering in art nouveau style. Pictorial endpapers and top edge gilt. Twenty-four colour plates mounted under captioned tissue guards. Many black and white drawings. A very near fine copy, cloth extremely bright. The contents are clean and fresh, plate at page 16 has a tiny corner turn and plate at 102, has a slight production fault, causing a small mark.
Florence Harrison's Pre-Raphaelite style illustrations beautifully complement Tennyson's poetry, with rich colours and beauteous maidens with flowing locks. Many of the poems are Arthurian including, the eponymous "Guinevere," "Sir Galahad" and "The Morte D'Arthur"
