Early reprint. 12mo. Grey boards lettered in gilt, with original glassine and pictorial dustwrapper. Inscribed by du Maurier on the front free endpaper "Foy - with love from / Daphne / Christmas 1945" Black and white frontispiece. A fine copy. Protected by both glassine and printed dustwrapper, which is very good, with a few small chips to the front panel.
Escort was considered by the author to be her best short story.
PROVENANCE: From the library of Foy Quiller-Couch, daughter of Sir Arthur Quiller-Couch and close friend of Du Maurier.
