First edition. Small 4to. Pictorial paper covered boards, with a revolving hunting scene, with the scene changing by turning a wheel at the fore-edge. In stylised orange dustwrapper with "This is an Oxford Book" printed on the spine and front panel. Colour frontis, and illustrated in line throughout by Grace Lodge. A very good copy indeed, previous ownership inscription on the front free endpaper. Dustwrapper is complete with front hinged strengthened, a miraculous survival.
A lovely books of traditional children's nursery rhymes. Including; A Hunting We Will Go, Ten Little Nigger Boys, Tom, Tom The Piper's Son and This is the House that Jack Built.
Mrs Herbert Strang is the pseudonym for George Herbert Ely and Charles James L'Estrange, both of who worked for OUP. They generally wrote adventure stories for boys under the name Herbert Strang, but occasionally added "Mrs" to their name when they wrote for girls.
