Half dark brown morocco over tan boards by the W.H.Smith bindery to a design by Douglas Cockerell, with raised bands and gilt lettering on the spine, rules in blind and punched gilt dots along the sides. Top edge gilt. 206 engravings over the two volumes, two of which are misbound and one of which includes the hand coloured arms of St Saviour's Abbey and Priory. Two additional illustrations bound in at the rear of vol. 1. A very good copy with foxing throughout. Shallow chipping to the head of the spine of volume I, but overall a handsome set.
