First edition, deluxe issue limited to 100 copies, this an out of series copy bound without the limitation leaf. Large 4to. Publisher's full vellum over bevelled boards, front board and spine decorated in gilt with art nouveau design by W.G. Easton. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Bookseller's label to rear pastedown, gift inscription to front free endpaper dated 1917. Twenty tipped in colour plates by M.E. Gray on Japanese vellum sheets with gilt borders, tissue guards with watermark design showing steam train. A near fine copy, clean with bright gilt, a tiny graze to foot of spine, and a few inoffensive marks to the real panel.
A large selection of poetry divided into nine categories, ranging from Fairies and Fancies to Romance and Heroism. Authors include Shakespeare, Coleridge, Tennyson and Lewis Carroll. Verses include The Babes in the Wood, Puck's Song and some Christmas Carols, including God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman and The Holly and the Ivy.
