Souvenir of Lecture "The British Antarctic Expedition, 1910-1913"
Geo, Gordon & Son 1913.
First edition. Original grey wrappers and onlaid photograph of Captain Scott to upper cover. Map to title page, further reproductions of photographs by Herbert Ponting throughout. A near fine copy, crisp and clean with a small mark to cover photograph.
An illustrated pamphlet produced for the lecture tour given by Edward Evans, following his involvement in Scott's final and ultimately fatal attempt to discover the South Pole. Scott had selected Evans as the captain of the Terra Nova. After contracting scurvy during the expedition in 1912 and returning to England to recover, he returned to his post and sailed on to Cape Evans in January 1913, only to learn of Scott's death the previous year.
